processing power and high data bandwidth for demanding server applications. Built to accept up to two Intel® Xeon™ with 512KB Layer 2 cache processors and
up to 12GB ECC registered DDR SDRAM, the SI-2P design features high I/O bandwidth by supporting PCI-X buses, gigabit Ethernet LAN and dual Ultra160 SCSI with Adaptec Zero Channel RAID (ZCR).

Dual-Processor Platform
The
SI-2P is built to accept up to two Intel®Xeon™ processors, featuring
higher
clock speeds, a 400MHz system bus, a 512KB on-chip Layer 2 cache
and Hyper-Threading
Technology. These processor features combine to give the SI-2P
board the exceptional computing capabilities required by performance
dual-processor server systems.
Balanced
Design for Optimal Performance
The
SI-2P is well-balanced, designed to provide optimal system performance
and to avoid bottlenecks through the overall data path. The well-balanced
design is manifested in the support of a peak bandwidth of 3.2GB/s
system, memory bus bandwidth and two 64-bit/133MHz PCI-X
I/O controller hubs (P64H2) that offer greater than 2GB/s overall
I/O bandwidth. These features together greatly ramp the overall performance
of a server system that is built on the SI-2P motherboard.
Highly
Integrated Design
The
SI-2P accommodates an Adaptec® AIC-7899W dual-channel Ultra160
SCSI controller with Zero-Channel-RAID
option, an Intel® 82544GC gigabit Ethernet controller and an on-board
ATI® Rage XL™ graphic controller. A server system that is built
on the SI-2P not only can benefit from the high performance of these
quality integrated devices but also the associated cost-savings from
add-on devices. Besides, this integrated design leaves more usable
I/O expansion slots for other usages, which facilitates more flexible
and scalable system configurations.
Scalable
for Future Growth
The
SI-2P provides six 184-pin DIMM slots and one InfiniBand bridge interface,
which makes the SI-2P capable of accommodating up to 12GB of registered
DDR200 (PC1600) memory capacity and one InfiniBand host adaptor. This
integrated and scalable design offers not only the I/O performance
needed today but also headroom for scaling up in the future. In addition,
with the implementation of two PCI-X controller hubs, the SI-2P is
set to form as an adaptive platform that supports multiple high I/O
PCI-X
devices.
