On June 6th, 2004, 18 of the best Warcraft
III players from around the world gathered in
Shanghai, China with one purpose: to become
the ACON4 World Champion. Over 500 spectators
gathered to witness the absolute highest level
of competition and gameplay. After an entire
day of intense battles, Matthew Anderson
(mTw-Wizard) managed to defeat Andrey
Sobolev (aT.deadman) in the finals,
winning a brand new car for his efforts.
"Much thanks to ABIT, the Chinese
government, and all the other sponsors for an
awesome event," said 18 year-old
Anderson. "I'm proud to bring home
the ACON4 world title to the USA and am looking
forward to ACON5!"
Second place aT.deadman from
Russia wins US$3,500 and Chun Jung Hee
(SK.sweet) of Korea receives US$2000
for third place. Su Ho (Yoliny.suhO)
from China walks away with a cool US$1,000 for
fourth place.
The final tournament was run single-elimination
style, with each match played best 2 out of
3 games. Final results for the tournament are

After the tournament, all players had a chance
to take in some of the breathtaking sights of
this dynamic city. For many, ACON4 Shanghai
was their first experience in China.

as one of the most successful events in e-sport

ACON4 events were held in 21 countries and 50
cites around the world. The winner from each
qualifier won the right to travel to Shanghai,
China for the ACON4 finals. ACON4 was sponsored

ACON4 North America
Winner Announced
Spanning 8 cities across Canada and the US,
ACON4 North America qualifiers have concluded.
After a long-fought battle, Jeff "Aether"
Zhang battled back from the losers
bracket to prove his dominance as the first-ever
ACON4 North American Champion.
Jeff walks a way with an ATI 9800XT video card
and a cool $2,000 in cash for his efforts. Because
of the age restrictions for the contest, Jeff
will be unable to attend the ACON4 finals in
Shanghai, so taking his place will be 2nd place
finisher, Matthew "Wizard"
Anderson.
Congratulations to both Jeff and Matthew, and
thank you to everyone who attended ACON4 North
America!

Take On the World at
ACON4
Worldwide gaming event
takes winners to Shanghai
ABIT, along with Intel,
Kingston, Dong Feng Yueda Kia Motors, Western

are pleased to announce the ACON4 Worldwide
Gaming Event. Spread out over 20 countries
and territories, ACON4 promises to be one of
2004's most exciting gaming events.
"We've assembled a gaming tournament
on a truly global scale," says ABIT

to bring this competition to gamers world wide."
Throughout 20 different countries and territories
worldwide, avid gamers will participate in the
ACON4 qualifiers. During each qualifying event,
one gamer will win the right to represent their
region at the ACON4 finals. From there, the
winners will be flown, all expenses paid, to
the ACON4 finals located in Shanghai, China.
The representatives from each region will then
compete head-to-head in a Warcraft III: The
Frozen Throne tournament to determine the ACON4
champion.

gamers to not only show off their skills, but
