Chip Germany describes the BH6, "However, the real, intrinsic delicacy is in the BIOS" The BH6 Gets the Official Chip Recommendation!

Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C. March 11th, 1999- Just in time for CeBIT in Hannover, Germany, CHIP Germany has concluded a motherboard test across all current chipsets. On the bench were boards with the Intel BX and the new ZX chipset as well as VIA Apollo Pro and VIA Apollo MVP3 Chipsets, in addition one Ali Aladdin V and a Sis530 Motherboard.

The test only included ATX-boards, which also feature ACPI functions. In other words the only mainboards that were used were ones which will be able to adequately provide for future demands for the end-user. The products were rated in four categories, which featured further tests. The four main categories were performance, equipment, quality, and documentation. Due to its excellent performances in all categories, ABIT's BH6 received the Official Recommendation by CHIP.

Manfred Rindl, the engineer responsible for the testing, emphasized that "the configuration of the software makes this BX board the first choice for all overclocking fans." But this is not everything, as ABIT is always looking not only to offer a hot product for power users, but is also looking to have a product whose capabilities assure the normal user a long utilization in the future and excellent possibilities for upgrading. "There are numerous expansion slots"

But ABIT got especially known for its software solution with the jumperless technology in the BIOS in order to set the system configuration. This way all jumpers and Dip-Switches, which were necessary before, simply got superfluous, as Manfred explained, "However, the real delicacy is in the BIOS, as there are also the settings for CPU, system clockspeed, multiplier settings and so on."
