ABIT
ZM6,
ROCK
'N'
ROLL

In
its
latest
review,
German
website
Tweak
PC
tested
ABIT's
new
mainboard,
the
ZM6.
Like
all
the
others,
they
were
skeptical
at
first,
expecting
the
low
cost
chipset
to
show
lower
performance.
They
quickly
discovered
that
this
is
not
the
case.
The
restrictions
of
the
ZX
chipsets
are
not
a
handicap
for
the
common
PC
user.
Furthermore,
ABIT's
original
idea
was
to
design
a
board
that
circumvents
the
limitations
of
the
ZX
chipset.
The
addition
of
a
fifth
PCI
slot
and
third
DIMM
slot
offer
simple
solutions
to
fully
exploit
the
capabilities
of
the
chipset,
which
appear
reduced.
Also
included
with
the
board
comes
Soft
MenuII,
which
gives
the
user
a
wide
variety
of
clock
speeds
to
choose
from.
As
the
BIOS
allows
the
direct
setting
of
IRQ
to
each
PCI
slot,
installing
add
on
cards
is
even
easier
than
on
the
BH6.
The
stability
of
the
board
was
also
excellent.
The
editors
of
TweakPC
decided
to
use
Linux
and
Windows98
for
their
testing.
During
all
their
testing
they
had
no
problems,
and
they
even
used
the
system
to
run
their
mail
and
webserver
without
problems.
So
they
came
to
the
final
decision
that
the
ZM6
just
deserves
6
out
of
6
Stars
of
approval,
and
"should
this
combination
(ABIT
ZM6
and
Celeron
300
PPGA)
get
into
the
hands
of
a
Tweaker,
then
rock
'n'
roll
baby!"
"Top
equipment,
super
Quality,
low
price,
what
else
does
one
want?"
