ABIT Now Includes Thermistor With
All BX6 Rev.2 Mainboards

Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C. March 24, 1999-In making "the Ultimate BX board" the BX6 rev.2, ABIT has gone to great lengths to insure the end-user the ability to have the maximum amount of flexibility and resources at his disposal. To this end, everyone is aware of our hardware monitoring features, specifically the Windbond chip and Hardware Doctor utility. With the Hardware Doctor, a self-diagnostic software program for the PC, the user can monitor the following hardware configurations under Microsoft Windows 95/98:
  1. Power Supply Voltage
Provide voltages for different devices such as CPU, Chipset, ISA Bus, PCI Bus
  2. Fan Speed
Includes CPU and System fan speed
  3. Temperature
Includes System temperature and a Thermal header for CPU or other hardware temperature monitoring.
As the BX6 rev. user is generally a "power user" ABIT recommends that you use the thermistor to monitor the CPU temperature to make sure you do not run it at a temperature that is too high. But infact you can use it to monitor any peripheral you see fit, such as a video card.

For the really adventurous check out the "How to make a thermistor probe" article on BXBoards.com. They've got great pictures and show you step by step how to use an ABIT board and with a little ingenuity, make even a switchable thermistor probe-set to toggle between different components.

"how to (for less than $5.00 U.S.) build your own thermistor probe which you can use to measure system component temperatures with the new ABIT BX6-2, BM6 or other compatible mainboard equipped with the Winbond W83782D chip and a thermistor header...Through having the ability to properly measure temperatures within your system and its components, a thermistor can help you determine areas (CPU, hard drives, video card) which may need additional cooling to achieve complete stabilization and possibly even higher performance in some cases"

Not only that, ABIT provides you with a full 40cm thermistor cable to assure you the most latitude in designing your hardware monitoring. It is the longest cable bundled with a board, compare other's with lengths of 27cm and under!
