Andy Drake of BXBoards says
"the ZM6 is a low cost, yet high quality board."

Taipei, Taiwan R.O.C. March 5, 1999-Recently in wake of the new wave of socket 370 boards, Andy Drake did a round up of competing boards which included the ABIT BM6 as well. The ZX chipset uses the same BX core and "basically the ZX is pretty much on a par with the BX chipset - its certainly many light-years ahead of the unfortunate EX, the low end alternative to the LX chipset." Designed for the new line of Celerons the ZM6 offers the best low-cost socket 370 solution available today, "If you are going to get a PPGA Celeron 366 running at 100Mhz FSB then this is probably the board to do itK"

In the drive to make the ZM6 the best in its class, new features were added to the already fabulous SoftMenuTM II "Kit has been improved somewhat, PCI bus dividers are now selectable, at both 124 and 133Mhz, giving the choice of either 124/3, 124/4, 133/3 and 133/4."

Also rounding out the full features of the ZM6 is the new Hardware Monitoring suite, "Hardware Doctor" that uses the Windbond chip. "The BIOS, SoftmenuTM II apart, provides support for the onboard health monitoring of the Winbond chip. This includes the ability to set a user definable alarm which sounds when the cutoff temperature is met.

As someone who is always tweaking his system Andy like to explore other aspects like overclockability, for the ZM6 he notes that it is "an excellent board, featuring all the support for overclockers we have come to expect from ABIT. The health monitoing and extra bus speeds means that this board offers the Celeron overclocker even more scope for a bit of tweaking then the now legendary BH6."

Overclocked Stability - Celeron 300a
4.5*100100%
4.5*112100%
Overclocked Stability - Celeron 366
5.5*75100%
5.5*83100%
"The board is a stable as hell at 4.5 x 112, and at that speed it runs a Pentium III close in the speed stakes. Not bad for a board and CPU that comes to under $150 if you shop around :)"

"The ABIT BM6 based as it is around the BX chipset comes first place in 2 out of the 3 Winstone 99 speeds tests....and the chipset offers the future proofing necessary to run the Celeron at 100Mhz when Intel decides the time is right to move the Celeron over to a 100Mhz bus. Best Socket 370 mainboard award goes to the ABIT BM6. For those of you who want quality on a budget, the Abit ZM6 is also an excellent board, and goes the extra mile to support the overclocker.
